It is the northernmost community in a highly integrated region known as El Zenta. Its topography and landscape are characteristic of the puna environment. The cattle ranch predominates that graze most of the year in the valleys of Salta and are brought in during the summer season; there are also llamas, sheep and goats that graze in the surroundings. As for agriculture, the climate allows the cultivation of potatoes and beans, in stubble fenced with stone walls that protect them from the cold. Perhaps it was the remoteness and dynamics of this community that attracted the filmmaker Miguel Ángel Pereira, to carry out the filming of his famous work “The internal debt” there. RONQUE ESTANCIA is a project of this family to share with visitors the customs and traditions of the community members in their daily lives. Norma and her family have, to receive visitors, a room of traditional construction, with stone, adobes and a gabled guaya roof. Inside it is equipped with three single beds (one bunk) and a desk, which makes it ideal for those who work while traveling. It has a shower and hot water 24 hours a day. Norma is also the host of the community and knows like no one else, the most beautiful corners and infinite stories and anecdotes of her community. Where to eat? The Chorcán community wants to share moving stories about daily life and about the main milestones of its history through a circuit that will take them to visit buildings, some standing and currently in use and others not inhabited, almost in ruins, triggers of multiple memories and anecdotes of the community’s inhabitants. Among them, the little house of Verónico, where the famous work of the national cinema “The internal debt” was filmed. Circuit Description: Starting from the tourist information box, we will go to the cemetery where we will share stories about funeral rites in the community.
