Hike from Caspalá to the summit of the Sierra del Hornocal of 24 km round trip and two days of duration. You leave by the old bridle path that leads to Humahuaca, then you pass through beautiful landscapes on the banks of the La Ciénaga river. Halfway through the La Loza site, you begin to appreciate the cobbled stairs of the Inca Trail and attractive queñuas groves. The night is spent in the natural cave of La Loza. The second day the Inca trail is resumed and you can enjoy waterfalls, water sources, and capricious forms on the rocks. The walk ascends through a spectacular landscape with swamps, springs eyes, hot springs, and groves of dwarf queñuas. From the head of the Ciénaga, you go up the Stairs of Heaven, to arrive at Abra Colorada. From here you ascend to the summit of the Hornocal mountain range, one of the most beautiful attractions in Jujuy. The return to Caspalá is done on the same day. It is a walk of about 12 km round trip from Caspalá to the Cascadas del Silencio. The same local horseshoe path that leads to Humahuaca is used that continues along the side of the Cienaga river where you can see beautiful landscapes. Upon reaching the site of La Loza the paths open. On the one hand, the path continues along the Inca Trail through cobbled paths and stairs with attractive queñuas groves, in the direction of the Hornocal summit. It is a walk of just over 2 kilometers through the vicinity of Caspalá to enjoy natural waterfalls on the Grande River and an archaeological site from where you can see a beautiful view of the town and its surroundings. The tour begins with a visit to the Santa Rosa de Lima church, and then descends through the riverbed of the Chico or Pozuelos river to the Grande de Caspalá river where there are beautiful waterfalls with crystalline waters. From here you go up to the Ancient archaeological site, which keeps vestiges of a pre-Hispanic culture. From this point you have a panoramic view of the town of Caspalá. We are the Flor en Piedra group of artisans, made up of more than 10 families of artisans from the towns of Caspalá in the Valle Grande department of the Jujuy province. Our group is characterized by being made up of female embroiderer artisans, passionate about our work. We are all head of the family, our main breadwinner is livestock production (vaccine) and agriculture for family consumption. About more than sixty years ago the embroidery of flowers in shawls began to be made, at that time it was done with a wild cane needle, wild flowers that were observed in the fields were embroidered. Our shawls are the result of our culture, of our worldview, it is a heritage that we want to share with the tourists who visit us. It is a walk or ride of 8km round trip from Caspalá to the archaeological ruins of Pueblo Viejo where you can see vestiges of a pre-Hispanic civilization. The experience may include the ruins of the Hornitos River. In that case, a further 2 km round trip would be added. So the duration can be from 6 to 8 hours. At noon a basket lunch is planned. During the journey you can see very interesting geological formations such as the government house, cave stone, the tower of the Condors, natural waterfalls, and also Queñuas (native trees that reach higher altitudes). In the archaeological site you can see rectangular constructions, grinding stones, animal traps made of stone, and ceramic remains among others.
