About me

I am Clementina Zerpa, I was born and raised in Chorcán, very close to Aparzo, the original community to which I now belong. I like animals a lot. I started as a llama breeder about eight years ago at the insistence of my children. Before I was dedicated to raising cows, I had an important farm that my father had inherited, but they were dying. My children, sad at first, gave me the idea of buying llamas. So it was that we brought eight from Casillas, currently there are about two hundred. I dedicate myself to taking care of them, I take them out to the hill so that they can eat good and abundant grass, so that they can raise young.

I decided to dedicate myself to tourism to obtain another income and share the beautiful walks that I take every day by taking my llamas to “pastiar”.

About my experience

Llamas are very tame animals, they usually walk calmly every day to where the shepherdess guides them and wait for her without going too far until the afternoon when she returns to look for them to take them back to the corral. I invite you to take this tour, taking the troops to graze to places where there is water and good grass, near my Campo Laguna post or by going to look for them to return safely in front of their corral.

Location:

35 km from the city of Humahuaca, along Provincial Route 73, you will find my grazing position on the side of the route, signposted as Campo Laguna. The Post of Doña Clementina, is located about 10 kms. before the community, in front of the Laguna Morada.

What will we do:

If you arrive in the morning, I will meet you at my herding post and we will share a welcome tea. Then we will prepare for the walk and I will provide you with the recommendations to approach the flames. We will take her to where they will pasture during the day and return to the post around noon.

If you come in the afternoon, first we will go to where the llamas are grazing, we will surround them and approach the post, and then share the snack and stories about life in the country.

Wear comfortable clothes. If you come in the morning, it is cold early, but at noon the temperature rises a lot. If you come in the afternoon, there is wind and around 5:00 p.m. it begins to cool, if there is fog in the area, you will probably need a hat or ear muffs and a scarf.

The water that we have at the post comes from a nearby water spring and we make it drinkable ourselves, if you consider it appropriate, bring your own water to drink.

The activity can take place all year round. The rains usually happen, from December to March and it is not frequent that it rains during the day, however, during these months the activity will be subject to rain.
