The Chorcán community wants to share moving stories about daily life and about the main milestones of its history through a circuit that will take them to visit buildings, some standing and currently in use and others not inhabited, almost in ruins, triggers of multiple memories and anecdotes of the community’s inhabitants. Among them, the little house of Verónico, where the famous work of the national cinema “The internal debt” was filmed.
Location:
This circuit is located within the community of Chorcán, 54 km from the city of Humahuaca, at almost 4,000 meters above sea level. It is an obligatory place of passage towards the legendary Laguna de Leandro.
Circuit Description:
Starting from the tourist information box, we will go to the cemetery where we will share stories about funeral rites in the community. Continuing the journey, we will pass by primary school No. 18 “Ciudad de La Plata” and the community chapel, where every January 19 the patronal feast in honor of Our Lady of Candelaria is held. We will walk towards the outskirts of the town, and we will greet the ojitos (springs of water) that provide drinking water to the community. We will close this route ascending to the Mirador from which the limits and neighboring communities of Chorcán can be contemplated.
About the Circuit:
Difficulty level: Medium-Low. Although it is not a long and intense route. Some people may find limitations in that the walk takes place at more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
Number of people per group: From 1 to 4 people.

Recommendations for the tour:
- Comfortable and suitable footwear.
- Cap or hat.
- Sunscreen.
- A spare pair of chinstraps in case you need to replace the one you are using.
- 1 liter of water per person (in individual non-transferable container).
Duration: 2 hours / 3 km.
Recommended schedule to tour the circuit: The activity can be carried out all year round. The rains usually happen, from December to March and it is not frequent that it rains during the day, however during these months the activity will be subject to rain.
According to the climate of the region, the recommended time to travel this circuit is:
From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from April to August.
From 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from September to March.

Payment Methods:
In the community there is no good internet signal, nor ATMs. The only form of payment enabled for the moment will be in cash a few minutes before taking the service.
