About us I am María Méndez, I was born and raised in the original community of Ocumazo. From a very young age and from the hand of my father I learned agriculture, we sowed wheat, corn, potatoes, broad beans, peas and barley. My father owned a hydraulic mill, he taught me everything about its world and how it works. In that mill we made flour from everything we sowed. My father also taught me how to make bread, we made bread with the flours that we ground in our own mill. When I grew up and got married, I came to live in Pucara. In this community I also dedicate myself to agriculture and the production of buns that I sometimes sell to tourists who pass through the route to the Mirador de las Serranías de Hornocal. About me I am María Argamonte, I was born in the original community of Valiazo, and I grew up in Pucara with my grandparents. They bequeathed me the knowledge of two wonderful tasks that today are the basis of my family finances. My grandmother was dedicated to cattle raising, she raised sheep and goats: she sheared her sheep, spun wool and wove socks, pullovers and vests; with the milk of the goats he made delicious cheeses. My grandfather was engaged in agriculture, he grew potatoes, corn, and peas. He was also a potter and a potter, he made pots, virques, and clay and stone plates. He was a very skillful person, he wove sheep and llama ponchos, blankets and picotes on his loom. I am dedicated to agriculture and goat farming. Country life and crafts are our strength, our FLOR DE ALTEA group is made up of several artisans, among them: Petrona Luere, Elsa Calapeña, María Mamani, Micaela Canavide, Dalinda Zapana, Florinda Lurere, Maria Choque, Teofila Flores, Norma Nieva, Fabiola Calisaya, Silveria Choque, Geronima Figueroa, Sarai Figueroa. I currently distribute my life between the communities of Hornocal and San Roque El Morado, as required by my family, my plants, animals and bees. We are the Flor en Piedra group of artisans, made up of more than 10 families of artisans from the towns of Caspalá in the Valle Grande department of the Jujuy province. Our group is characterized by being made up of female embroiderer artisans, passionate about our work. We are all head of the family, our main breadwinner is livestock production (vaccine) and agriculture for family consumption. About more than sixty years ago the embroidery of flowers in shawls began to be made, at that time it was done with a wild cane needle, wild flowers that were observed in the fields were embroidered.
